Stephen Yeazell has written in books and articles about the history, theory, and demography of procedure and civil litigation. He teaches courses that correspond to these interests: Civil Procedure, Contemporary Civil Litigation, International Civil Litigation, and an occasional foray into legal history. He has received the University's Distinguished Teaching Award and was the first recipient of the School of Law's Rutter Award for Excellence in Teaching and in 2007 was named as UCLA’s Faculty Research Lecturer, an honor bestowed by the Academic Senate. He has served in several administrative capacities both in the School of Law and in UCLA’s Academic Senate. Before studying law, Professor Yeazell taught English and history in junior high schools in New York City, an experience, he reports, that has made him appreciate the relative calm of even the feistiest law school class. Professor Yeazell's books include From Medieval Group Litigation to the Modern Class Action (1987) and Civil Procedure (7th ed., 2008).
