Ronald J. Krotoszynski, Jr., is the John S. Stone Chairholder of Law and Director of Faculty Research at the University of Alabama. He comes to the Law School from Washington & Lee School of Law, where he served as Alumni Faculty Fellow and Professor of Law. Previously, he clerked for Judge Frank M. Johnson, Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and was an associate with Covington & Burling LLP.

Professor Krotoszynski earned his B.A. and M.A. from Emory University and J.D. and LL.M. from Duke University where he was articles editor for the Duke Law Journal and selected for Order of the Coif. He clerked for the Honorable Frank M. Johnson, Jr, of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and was an associate with Covington & Burling, D.C. He has taught at the law schools at the University of Washington, William and Mary, Indiana, and Washington and Lee. Professor Krotoszynski teaches administrative law and constitutional law.

Steven Gey

Considered one of the country's leading scholars on religious liberties and free speech, Professor Gey is author of the casebook, Cases and Materials on Religion and the State (Lexis-Michie 2001).

He teaches a Church and State Seminar, Constitutional Law I and II, a First Amendment Seminar, Injunctions, and Public Interest Law, and has also taught Civil Rights Survey, Cyberlaw, and Federal Courts. Professor Gey has been named Professor of the Year by the Student Bar Association several times and has been a faculty advisor to Florida State University Law Review since 1987. Before joining Florida State University College of Law's faculty in 1985, Professor Gey was associated with the firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison in New York City. He received his J.D. in 1982 from Columbia University School of Law, where he was editor of Columbia Law Review.

Lyrissa Lidsky

Teaching and Scholarship:
Professor Lidsky's research focuses on press freedom in the Internet Age and the intersection of tort law and the First Amendment. She teaches Mass Media Law, Torts, Advanced Torts, and Constitutional Law.
 

Professional Activities:
University of Florida: Joined College of Law in 1994 as Assistant Professor; named Associate Professor (1997-2000), full Professor (since 2000); Associate Dean for Faculty Development (2005-06). University of Florida Research Foundation Professorship (2001-2003; 2005-2007). Chair of Appointments (2006-07).



  • Teacher of the Year (1996-97 & 2002-2003). Twice selected by students as faculty graduation speaker.
  • Selected Organizations: The Florida Bar (since 1994); Professionalism Committee of the Florida Bar 1995-96, 2005-06; Order of the Coif.
  • Advisor to numerous student journals and organizations, including the Entertainment Law Review and the Journal of Law & Public Policy.

Career Highlights: Author of three casebooks (Torts, Mass Media Law, and First Amendment Law) and one reference book on freedom of the press. Author of numerous law review articles, several of which have been cited in published court opinions; Speaker at various conferences, including the Florida Bar's annual First Amendment Law Symposium; Cooperating Counsel with ACLU in a case involving anonymous Internet speech; International Contributing Editor to the Media & Arts Law Review (Australia). Testified before the Committee on Energy and Commerce, House of Representatives, in hearing entitled "Oath Taking, Truth Telling, and Remedies in the Business World."

Christina Wells

Professor Wells joined the faculty in 1993 after having been an associate with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom in Chicago and Heller, Ehrman, White and McAuliffe in Los Angeles, primarily in the area of business litigation. While in school, she was Comment Editor of the University of Chicago Law Review.

In 2001, Professor Wells was a Fulbright Scholar in the Czech Republic, studying and lecturing on constitutional rights at Masaryk & Palacky Universities. In 2002, she was invited back to present a series of lectures on American constitutional decision making. In 2003, Professor Wells received the Sustained Outstanding Achievement Award presented by the University of Missouri Law School Foundation.

Professor Wells focuses her research on issues involving free expression and access to government information and teaches Freedom of Speech, Gender and the Law, Remedies and Administrative Law.
