Global Perspectives on Counterterrorism

March 18-20, Jerusalem. Professor Guiora will participate on a panel at a three-day conference jointly organized by the Sacher Institute, Faculty of Law Hebrew University of Jerusalem and The Centre of Public Law, University of Cambridge, in cooperation with Jerusalem Bar Association. The conference, part of The International Project on Judicial Independence, is entitled The International Conference on Judicial Independence and the Constitutional Position of the Judiciary. The topic of Professor Guiora’s panel is Contemporary Debate on Judicial Independence II: The Controversy over the Reforms in the Administration of Justice in Israel.

April 10, Durham, North Carolina.  Professor Guiora will participate on a panel at a two-day conference sponsored by the Center on Law, Ethics and National Security, the Center for International and Comparative Law, and the Program in Public Law at Duke University School of Law entitled Combating Terrorism: Charting the Course for a New Administration. The topic of the panel is The War on Terrorism: Role of the International Community.

April 16, Champaign, Illinois. Professor Guiora will make several presentations to the students and faculty at the University of Illinois Law School, as well as to interested members of the community.

April 22, the Netherlands, the School of Human Rights Research at the University of Utrecht. Professor Guiora will teach a seminar, "How to Become a Successful Young Academic,” take part in a luncheon discussion about counterterrorism and human rights, and give a public lecture entitled: "Terrorism and Active Self-defense."
