Margreth Barrett is Professor of Law at the University of California at Hastings College of Law. As a specialist in intellectual property law, she has published numerous journal articles and other works in trademark law, copyright, and patent law. She is the author of one of the leading casebooks in the field (Intellectual Property, Third Edition, Thomson/West), as well as two study aids - Intellectual Property Emanuel Law Outline and Intellectual Property CrunchTime, both published by Aspen Publishers. 

Prior to joining the faculty at U.C. Hastings in 1984, Professor Barrett served as a law clerk to the Honorable Gerald Bart Tjoflat, United States Circuit Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuilt. She also practiced law with the firm of Howard, Rice, Nemerovsky, Canady, Robertson & Falk in San Francisco.

Although she has taught in the areas of corporate law and real property law, Professor Barrett's focus is on intellectual property law. She presently teaches coures in Copyright and Trademarks and Unfair Competition Law.
